Driven by questions about identity, Samuel Lemba explores different aspects of origins and identification. His work is guided by childhood memories and how they shaped him into the person he is today. The art of reflection and observation that he practiced as a child translates into his body of work.

Samuel Lemba’s creative process is based on composition. The artworks capture the essence of scenes, emphasizing the atmospheric elements, colors, and intricate details. Rather than focusing on specific actors or characters, the emphasis lies on the atmosphere and actions taking place within the scene.

He intends to start a conversation with the viewer. The openness in his paintings invite the viewer to be part of the unfolding narrative. A dialogue is established in which the viewer is encouraged to carefully dissect and observe the same work multiple times in order to find meaning.
